MEET our T3 May ATHLETE of the MONTH, Danielle Freebern!

Coach Amy says, "Danielle does not cease to amaze me with everything she does while keeping an encouraging smile on her face! The amount of training Danielle gets done while balancing-teaching, coaching, finishing her masters and taking good care of her family is astounding. Her teammates and friends can always count on her to lend a helping hand and encouragement. Danielle has the best attitude about life and makes the world bright with her smile and sense of humor. Q:  What is your name and where do you live?

A:  Danielle Freebern and I live in Greenfield Center. NY


Q:  What is your age?

A:   43


Q:  What is your occupation?

A:  I am a high school social studies teacher


Q:  When did you start participating in triathlons? What motivated you to participate?

A:  I completed my first triathlon in 2017 so 7 years


Q:  How long have you been coached by T3 Coaching?

A:  This is my 2nd season with Coach Amy- we share a special love for pizza!


Q:  What is your favorite race, and why?

A:  My favorite triathlon is Ironman Lake Placid, I spend a lot of time in LP with my friends and family and it holds a special place in my heart.


Q:  What is your favorite piece of triathlon equipment?

A:  My running sneakers


Q:  What are some of your career highlights as an athlete (not necessarily triathlon)?

A:  I am a 2 time 140.6 finisher, a 5x 70.3 finisher, 5x marathon and 2x Ultramarathoner. I have placed 2nd in the Athena category at the Patriot Half and have placed first in my AG the Lions Club Duathlon twice.


Q:  What are your triathlon goals for this season?

A:  To finish my 3rd 140.6 at IMLP with the T3 crew! Besides that I am looking forward to a happy and injury free season!


Q:  What is your long-term goal in the sport of mtn. biking/triathlon?

A:  I want to travel to Mt.Tremblant and Maine in the next couple of years to complete the 70.3 distances there.


Q:  What are 3 foods someone would always find in your refrigerator/cupboards?

A:  Peanut butter, pretzels, pizza


Q:  What kind of music could we find on your playlist

A:  Country, country and more country


Q:  What advice would you give to a 'newbie' in the sport?

A:  To take time to enjoy the race. Thank the volunteers, look around at the scenery and stop to hug and thank your support crew.


Q:  Do you have any secret training tips? (Not really secret if you share, huh?)

A:  Nutrition is key to success of triathlon, practice, practice, practice


Q:  Please list your favorite workout:

A:  Fartlek runs: The name is fun and I love to run!


Q:  Any thoughts you want to share?

A:  I am honored to be the AOTM for T3. This group has made triathlon so much more than racing! I also want to take a minute to thank everyone who supports me and my triathlon journey. My friends, T3 crew, the BABS, and most importantly my husband and kids. Without their support I would not be able to accomplish the goals I set for myself and be the best athlete I can be!
