MEET our T3 September ATHLETE of the MONTH, Amanda Williams!
Congratulations to Amanda Williams as the T3 September Athlete of the Month. Despite her challenging work schedule of rotating 12 hour work days, we were able to find a delicate balance of training, family, friends, and most importantly rest. Amanda came into the year determined and focused on her first Ironman finish line. Her dedication to the training was second to none. It was a pleasure to coach her and to be part of her journey as she gave 100% to every workout even when I had her running long after a 12 hour shift on her feet at 10 PM at night. When it came to race day, we laid out a plan for the swim, power on the bike, and pace for the run. She nailed each aspect during a long day of racing. As proof of a well executed race, she had a smile on her face each time she passed us on the course. Amanda "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!"

A: 3 years ago
Q: How long have you been coached by T3 Coaching?
A: This is my first year with John.
Q: What is your favorite race, and why?
A: My favorite race is Lake Placid 70.3.First of all, who doesn’t love lake placid!! I liked the late season race and the cooler temperatures. I also enjoy the Lake george olympic not only the course but the crowd it attracts
Q: What is your favorite piece of triathlon equipment?
A: My bike of course! Although I had to purchase a new/used bike this year, I have grown to love it. I have always enjoyed learning how to keep up on maintenance. I also love new running shoes and often buy too many.
Q: What are some of your career highlights as an athlete (not necessarily triathlon)?
A: Growing up I always played basketball and soccer. Soccer being my main sport. I played all throughout high school, winning section title for basketball my junior year. In college I took a break aside from a pick up game here and there. I missed being active and competing until I learned about triathlons. I quickly fell in love and cannot wait to see what next year brings.
Q: What are your triathlon goals for this season?
A: My goal was to complete my first 140.6; and I did just that in Lake Placid. I enjoyed every second and happy with my performance
Q: What is your long-term goal in the sport of mtn. biking/triathlon?
A: I enjoy racing and being in great shape both mentally and physically. My goal was to finish a 140.6 and achieved that this year. Long term I hope to gain speed and strength while enjoying every second of it

A: Pizza, chocolate chip cookies and milk
Q: What kind of music could we find on your iPod?
A: a little bit of everything 90’s hip hop and classic rock
Q: What advice would you give to a 'newbie' in the sport?
A: I’d say I am fairly new to the sport and the best advice I received was to join a team. This sport is just as much a team as it is individual. Joining a team gave me support to strive and meet my goals. It is also a great resource to gain knowledge about strategies, nutrition, gear, and training. The second best advice I would give is to race your own race. Don’t worry about anyone else, stick to your race plan and your training will pay off.
Q: Do you have any secret training tips? (Not really secret if you share, huh?)
A: Train with a buddy. You can push each other out of your comfort zones
Q: Please list your favorite workout:
A: Bike: easy warm up 30mins
Run: Easy 2 mile
Bike: 5 mile TT effort
Run: Smooth 2 miles

Q: Any thoughts you want to share?
A: I have had an amazing experience these past 3 years training and racing. I have met so many new friends that have helped me along this adventure. This year has been by far my favorite year. I loved joining T3 and learning so much along the way. The triathlon community is a great one to be a part of and I am so glad I was introduced into the sport. I cannot wait to create a new goal for next year.
