MEET our T3 September ATHLETE of the MONTH, Rebecca Pedersen!
Q: What is your name and where do you live?
A: Rebecca Pedersen - Saratoga Springs
Q: What is your age?
A: 39... Big new AG next year! :)
Q: What is your occupation?
A: I'm currently on "sabbatical"... but prior to 2009, I'd been in the finance field. Also, for "fun", I'm a certified fitness instructor.
Q: How long have you been participating in triathlons?
A: 3 Years
Q: How long have you been coached by T3 Coaching?
A: 1 Year
Q: What is your favorite race, and why?
A: Anything local... it's great to participate with friends & have their support on the course.
Q: What is your favorite piece of triathlon equipment?
A: It better be my bike... I've certainly spent the most money on it!
Q: What are some of your career highlights as an athlete (not necessarily triathlon)?
A: Probably qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
Q: What are your triathlon goals for this season?
A: To perform really well at the Augusta 70.3 at the end of September!
Q: What is your long-term goal in the sport of mtn. biking/triathlon?
A: To qualify for Clearwater, & give a full IM a shot.
Q: What are 3 foods someone would always find in your refrigerator/cupboards?
A: Cheese, Cereal & Pasta.
Q: Do you specialize in a particular mtn. biking/triathlon distance? If so, why that distance?
A: Longer distances... I don't think I have ONE fast twitch muscle in my body!!
Q: What advice would you give to a 'newbie' in the sport?
A: At the beginning, make it fun & log in the miles. Also, acquire the right "gear" (running shoes, bike fitting, etc.) & learn/practice proper technique.
Q: Do you have any secret training tips? (Not really secret if you share, huh?)
A: Add variety to workouts so they don't feel stale/boring.
Q: Please list your favorite workout:
A: Any speedwork – it's over quickly & probably the workout that I "need" to do the most.
Q: Any thoughts you want to share?
A: Having a coach has been awesome! Every week is a new challenge and array of training – it's exciting!
