Congratulations to David Polanco on being named the T3 Athlete of the Month!

Since beginning his journey with T3 in 2020, David has faced and overcome a few challenges — including battling back from an Achilles injury, while also embracing one of life’s greatest blessings: becoming a father. Through it all, he has continued to show remarkable dedication, consistency, and determination.

With tremendous motivation, discipline, and support from those around him, David has steadily built toward what is shaping up to be an incredible season, highlighted by his pursuit of a personal best at Ironman 70.3 Western Massachusetts.

“With every workout, you can almost see the improvement happening in real time. His confidence continues to grow, his paces keep getting faster, and his overall fitness has taken a huge leap forward. This season has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of, and it’s been so much fun watching everything come together for David.”

A:   Intermittently for 12 years (first was a sprint, Tri Waco, in 2014)

A:   I was coached by Kevin in 2020 and then again this season.

A:   Lake George Triathlon. It's a race in the most beautiful place in the world, you can't beat that!

A:   Garmin watch - I may spend as much time looking at my workout data as I do working out.

A:   Losing 50 lbs since I started training ~6 months ago, returning to racing after an Achilles rupture in late 2023, and setting 5k and half marathon PRs this season that have stood for the past 6 years.

A:   Set a new 70.3 PR at Western Mass 70.3.

A:   Continue to get faster at 70.3 and Olympic distances.

A:   Oreos, gummy bears and pancake mix.

A:   Calvin Harris, Dispatch, Zach Bryan, The Killers. It's a pretty wide array of music.

A:   Focus on nutrition as much as you focus on the workouts. Ensure you're taking in enough water and calories during the preparation so you don't crash on race day.

A:   Do your workouts somewhere scenic. I do my long runs in downtown Saratoga/the state park and I look forward to every one of them.

A:   Long runs where I can listen to music and take in the scenery.

A:   Never underestimate what you can do with the right coach, family support, and the right mindset. I did not think I would reach the same level of fitness after I ruptured my Achilles a few years ago. I was able to ramp up my fitness slowly and have been able to set PRs.
